About Us
Excellent Hospital: CVH is a brand new small animal hospital with state of the art equipment. We provide advanced surgical and medical treatment and are a referral center in the ACT. We are the only general practice in Canberra and the surrounding area able to perform advanced surgeries: THR, TPLO, liver and lung lobectomies and subtotal colectomy to mention a few. Our brand new equipment is the latest in the market and a number of them are human grade machines. This enables us to offer the latest diagnostic techniques for our patients. It also gives our vets confidence and peace of mind that whatever the service is, they are able to provide it. We have a full in-house laboratory IDEXX system. Parts of this system are exactly what IDEXX uses in their own IDEXX reference laboratory. We use RxWorks and utilise all of its capabilities to simplify our daily work. We are environmentally conscious and are a paperless hospital. All the communications, consent forms, handouts, hospital forms, anesthesia forms, dental charts and treatment plans are done through VetCheck. This software is very easy to work with and produces everything with the click of your mouse. We have separated dog and cat departments and are a Gold Standard ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic. Our next step towards being a hospital of excellence, is in the near future the installation of a CT scan, something that we are all very excited about.

Excellent Staff: Our support team is trained for advanced surgeries, treatments and emergencies. You can confidently hand over your patient to them and they will look after the rest. From admit to discharge, blood collection, running the tests, reporting the results, IV catheter placement, treatment planning and dose calculation, premedication, monitoring anesthesia, recovering the patient, bandaging, client follow ups, and invoicing are all done by our fabulous nursing staff. We have weekly team meetings to discuss any concerns, new learnings and plan for better service. We also have weekly training sessions to make sure everyone upskills themselves on a regular basis. We look after each other like a family.
We reward our staff’s hard work and also show appreciation to their immediate family members, by all attending either breakfast, lunch or dinner on a regular basis. We select from one of the many delicious cafes or high-end restaurants around town to try out and everything is paid for. Morning teas, lunches or dinner, along with random appreciation gifts are just another way to say thank you to the team that believes in what they do and believes in the hospital. Whilst at work, snacks and an in-house Breville coffee machine with ONA beans is the most visited section in our practice. We also provide free services for staff pets in our hospital.

Excellent clients: we love our clients and we believe they love us too. They have made us the winner in the ACT Local Business Awards 2 years in a row and a finalist in year 3. This recognition is something we are so very proud of for such a newly established hospital and we hope to achieve another spot on the winner’s board in the coming months.

Excellent Offer: The salary package includes:
1- up to AU$160,000 per year including superannuation.
2- a yearly holiday allowance of AU$1,200 in Jindabyne or Batemans Bay – your choice of beach or snow.
3- a yearly CPD allowance of AU$1500.
4- paid ACT vet board registration.
5- 4 weeks annual leave plus one week study leave.
6- practice memberships for VIN, CVE, Vet Education, Crampton consulting group, IDEXX specialists consulting and AVA.
